Pet Dental Cleaning FAQ | Anaesthesia-Free Dental Cleaning Australia
What is anaesthesia-free pet dental cleaning?
It is a professional, non-surgical dental scale and polish performed without anaesthesia or sedation. Our veterinarian, Dr Cesar Vargas, uses natural techniques including canine massage, acupressure and aromatherapy to keep your pet calm and comfortable, and there is no recovery period.
Is anaesthesia-free dental cleaning safe?
Yes. Our non-surgical technique uses no anaesthesia or sedation and is suitable for dogs and cats of all ages, including seniors and pets that cannot undergo anaesthesia. If an assessment shows your pet needs dental surgery, we refer you to a veterinary surgeon with a report from our examination. Read more: Is non-anaesthetic dental cleaning safe?
How much does a pet dental clean cost in Australia?
At Australian Animal Oral Care, dog dental cleans start from $600 + GST in Melbourne and from $700 + GST in NSW and QLD. Cat dental cleans start from $800 + GST in all states. Home visits have an extra $50 fee when we travel interstate or if you are 25km or more from the Melbourne CBD. These are starting prices for a standard clean; the final cost may be higher depending on travel fees, difficult pet behaviour or heavy tartar removal. See our dental cleaning cost guide.
What is included in a dental clean?
Each visit includes a full dental check-up, a dental scale to remove tartar and plaque, residual bacteria removal, an oral flush, a polish and a natural gum treatment.
How long does a dental clean take?
Sessions typically take 45 to 90 minutes, depending on the level of tartar build-up and your pet's temperament.
How often should my dog or cat have a dental clean?
We recommend every 6 to 12 months for maintenance, combined with daily home dental care such as brushing with pet-safe toothpaste.
Where do you offer dental cleaning?
We offer home visits and location-based appointments in Melbourne, NSW and Queensland. See our locations page for current areas.
Do you clean cats' teeth as well as dogs'?
